Vision and mission

VISION

Dreaming of a better world in which the dignity of each person will be respected, tolerance fostered, with mutual respect and assistance, in which everybody will be provided an equal opportunity, in which being blind will not mean "less valuable" but "different", on June 16th 1946 in Zagreb, a group of blind intellectuals has gathered and established Croatian Association of the Blind. Since then, the blind citizens of Croatia are united in their, one of 27 local organizations, and through it the roof Croatian Association of the Blind personalize founders motto: "Blind for the blind, also" ,participating thus in the realization of their dreams, while taking their share of responsibility for the joint "better tomorrow". Such action have made the initial idea that the Croatian Association of the Blind is the leading civil society organization for the articulation of specific needs of blind and as such is a relevant partner to the government sector in finding the appropriate optimal solutions that positively affect the quality of life for the blind. Association is firmly positioned and recognized non-governmental organization that works successfully with both associations of the civil society and economic sector.

The Mission of the Association  and beyond:
       - to ensure respect of the human rights and elimination of all forms of discrimination against the blind,
- to promote and implement a proactive policy in the field of social welfare including the provision of immediate humanitarian assistance necessary for blind people,
- to ensure the practical application of the latest achievements in the field of education, rehabilitation and employment of the blind,
      - to act in protection and improvement of the health of the blind,
- to participate in improving the environmental and physical planning and adjustment of certain real life solutions of the needs of blind persons,
- to affirm the blind people in all areas of social life,
- to sensitize the public for the social needs of the blind,
- to achieve full inclusion in the life of the blind into community as its different, but equal members
